The site wide search looks through every page on CancerHelp UK for the words you type in the search box. This search will result in the maximum number of hits.
You can search CancerHelp UK by entering one or more words that describe what you are looking for. It doesn't matter if you use capital letters or not.
If you want to search for a whole phrase, exactly as you've typed it, put it in inverted commas (for example "lung cancer").
You can link the words with '
or', '
and', or '
and not'. For example
- Colorectal and stage will bring up all the pages that contain both these words
- Colorectal or stage will bring up all the pages that contain either of these words
- Colorectal and not stage will bring up all the pages that contain 'colorectal', except the pages that also contain 'stage'
You can also use wildcard searching. This means you can type * at the end of part of a word. This will bring up all the pages that contain words beginning with those letters. For example, typing stag* will bring up pages containing the words stage, stages, and staging.
The pages that are most relevant to your query will appear at the beginning of the search results. If you get a lot of results, you could narrow your search by adding another relevant word, or by using '
and' instead of '
or'.
Remember - if you spell a word wrongly, the search engine will not find it. You can check your spelling by looking up your words in the glossary. To do this, click 'glossary' at the top of the screen.
You cannot use this search page to look for trials in the CancerHelp clinical trials database. Click the clinical trials button on the left of your screen to search for a clinical trial.
