Cancer Research UK is the largest cancer research organisation in the world, outside the USA. We are the European leader in the development of new anti-cancer drugs. We fund research on all aspects of the disease from its causes, to treatment and prevention, education and psychological support for patients.

Against Breast Cancer is a charitable organisation based in Oxford that funds breast cancer research into long-term survival. It is looking at breast cancer, effect of the cancer on patients and their response to the cancer. It is also looking at the part environmental factors play in the development of cancer and recruiting women to take part in the Diet and Lifestyle Study.

A charity set up by the cosmetics industry. Volunteer beauty therapists provide skincare and make up workshops for women undergoing cancer treatment. All guests are provided with a goodie bag worth £150-200. It has been running for 12 years and workshops are held in 40 hospitals across the UK. This group provides information, specialist advice and support for anyone with lymphoedema. It is also open to interested health professionals. They meet every two months at the Royal Marsden Hospital Education Centre in London. There is a network of fourteen groups outside London with a total of about 700 members. A newsletter is produced twice a year.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides care and support for people with cancer at every stage of their illness through Macmillan nurses, Macmillan doctors, and a programme of financial help for patients in need. It offers information, advice and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. It has publications about the main types of cancer, treatments and ways of living with cancer. There is also a freephone telephone and letter information service, provided by a team of specialist cancer nurses, on all aspects of cancer and treatment. Their benefits advice line offers advice on financial matters generally.
