Cancer Research UK is the largest cancer research organisation in the world, outside the USA. We are the European leader in the development of new anti-cancer drugs. We fund research on all aspects of the disease from its causes, to treatment and prevention, education and psychological support for patients.
We are also committed to producing high quality information for people affected by cancer, health professionals and the general public. We do this through our websites CancerHelp UK, News and resources and through our range of health awareness leaflets.

Leukaemia CARE provides carer support services to all those whose lives are affected by leukaemia and other blood disorders. They provide financial grants and help with holidays. The website has a well used message board. The phone line is staffed by volunteers. There are support groups around the country, also run by volunteers.
CML Support
CML Support is an organisation is run by people with CML in the UK and in Europe. The site has lots of information and a message board. Much of the information is quite technical, with reprints of medical articles, for example. They have a newsletter and will keep you in touch with their activities if you sign up to their updating service. They also organise web based broadcasts from doctors and you can read the transcripts of these on the site as well as listening to them. Despite the name, there is some information on CLL.

Runs one of the largest bone marrow donor databases in the world. There are regional centres, which are listed on their website. They are looking for people in good health, aged 18-40 to join the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register - in particular young men from black and minority ethnic communities.
Unique match website
The unique match website is part of a scheme run by the Anthony Nolan Trust (see above) to raise awareness of how you can become a bone marrow donor. It is creating events and games to get people involved and donate bone marrow to save lives.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides care and support for people with cancer at every stage of their illness through Macmillan nurses, Macmillan doctors, and a programme of financial help for patients in need. It offers information, advice and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. It has publications about the main types of cancer, treatments and ways of living with cancer. There is also a freephone telephone and letter information service, provided by a team of specialist cancer nurses, on all aspects of cancer and treatment. Their benefits advice line offers advice on financial matters generally.
National Cancer Institute
